DIY mint green master bedroom budget makeover! Redo your bedroom and design a bedroom makeover just for you! For whatever reason, mint green bedding is going crazy on pinterest right now and these bedroom makeover ideas that I shared after my divorce a few years ago, are very popular right now.

The mint green bedding is a home run and looks beautiful with the wood scroll headboard (which is actually wall art from HomeGoods). I have provided affiliate links in this post for your shopping convenience.

If you are new here, I did this bedroom makeover after my divorce (full recap on my About Jessica page).

Redoing my bedroom helped put that part of my life in the past and give me something new to look forward too :).

Redoing my room on a budget

Green bedroom ideas do not always need to involve green paint (although I love the mint green bedroom paint in this girls bedroom).

You will see in that post that the mint green walls coordinated perfectly with the white and green bedding. It’s kind of a flip flop from this bedroom where I have white walls and mint green bedding.

The new white wall color below is Nova white by Glidden. The white bedroom walls completely transformed my master bedroom and brightened it up.

How to make a bedroom cozy on a budget

First and foremost, you need to find bedding that is affordable.

Bedding can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars in a matter of minutes if you are not careful. Honestly, you can create luxury master bedroom by layering affordable comforters, quilts and duvets.

Bedroom decorating ideas on a budget always start with the bedding and headboard in my opinion. Invest your money on the bedding.

DIY mint green master bedroom budget makeover

The mint green bedding from HomeGoods was one of the biggest scores I found while shopping for my bedroom. The texture was exactly what I was looking for and looked amazing with the wood scrolling artwork that I used as a headboard.

The DIY scrolling headboard added the architectural interest to the white wall and created a beautiful focal point on a budget. I purchased two scrolling wall art pieces and simply hung them on the wall, side by side, over the king sized bed.

For  under $150, I created a headboard that is unique and beautiful.

How do I give myself a bedroom makeover?

Simple bedroom decorating ideas will keep you on budget. I used a beige popcorn rug that I had in my old master bedroom and layered on top of the wall to wall carpet.

Layering an area rug on top of wall to wall carpet is an easy way to create designer look while creating the foundation for a bed. As you can see in the before picture of my bedroom, the bed seems to float in the room and an area rug helps ground the bed in place.

How can I makeover my bedroom on a budget?

In the past I have always created more of a transitional, gender neutral bedroom theme but this time, I wanted to create a space for me, myself and I! -ha.

I layered a velour beige blanket, a white comforter with blue piping, the mint green comforter, a cable knit beige throw and textured blue, green and pink throw pillows to create luxurious look.

Think in layers and lots of different textures when designing your master bedroom.

The french inspired bench was actually the inspiration for my DIY mint green master bedroom budget makeover. I found it at HomeGoods and purchased it immediately.

I have always wanted a bench at the bottom of my bed and this bench was affordable and romantic looking. What do I mean by romantic looking? The leg detail is petite and offers a luxurious look as well.

  4. Oh wow, your bedroom looks beautiful! I really like that headboard and was amazed to hear how you made it. I think a bench would be a nice addition to a room also. It looks pretty and it’s a practical place to sit and put your socks on, etc.

Love this! I was trying to figure out the dimensions of the headboard but I can seem to click on any image that leads to the product. Am I missing something? Please help. 🙂

      1. HI Stephanie, the headboard is actually 2 wall art pieces that I purchased at HomeGoods. It’s not an actual headboard. 🙂

  7. This is such an adorable room!! I love it, its feminine and the colors look great together!! I love that green textured comforter and your accessory pillows, would you mind sharing what brand it is or sending a link to where I could get one? It is so hard to buy bedding online and get the correct color and texture. Also, would you mind sharing the paint color of your walls? You have great taste! 🙂

  8. What brand is the bench
