Our navy blue master bedroom with gold accents is complete. We still have a few minor things to do but for the most part, it’s done. When we started on the bedroom project, the beginning of this past summer, I originally intended to simply paint and update the furniture. What started out as a simple project turned into a full glam makeover with DIY wall molding that just about killed me. I have to say though, my husband loves the space and I am so happy with how it turned out.
Thank you to Wayfair and Birch Lane for donating all of the furnishings.
The grey tufted headboard from Wayfair and the gorgeous night tables from Birch Lane coordinate perfectly together.
Here is the master bedroom before.
We painted the walls Smoky Blue by Sherwin-Williams and the trim and chair rail Extra White (Sherwin-Williams)
Here is another before while we were sleeping on just a mattress ;). My husband was not impressed with this part of the makeover.
After.
Big difference in color right? Once the room was painted, I felt like it needed a dose of glam. You know, the kind that makes you say “wow!” So that’s when the gold spray painted molding came to mind.
I will share the DIY gold molding tutorial soon. I questioned myself probably every hour while I was doing this project as it took a bit of time but in the end, it was well worth it. It’s not difficult, just time consuming.
The white smocked duvet from Pine Cone Hill is absolutely gorgeous. My mom ended up buying me the Pottery Barn blue medallion quilt for my birthday so I was hesitant about what texture would coordinate with it. I was thrilled when the smocked duvet arrived, it’s perfect!
The navy blue embroidered hem sheets are also from Pine Cone Hill.
The two toned Clarkson nightstand from Birch Lane has lift top opens to reveal a power outlet for electronics. I missed that part of the description when I ordered it and when it arrived, I was so excited to see the hidden spot for cords!
The beautiful dresser below is also from Wayfair and is featured in distressed dolphin. This is probably the most solid piece of furniture I have ever seen. It is solid wood and absolutely gorgeous inside and out. It’s hard when you order furniture online to know the quality but rest assured, everything in this room that Wayfair and Birch Lane provided, is top notch quality.
I am not a matchy matchy kind of person so I wanted to mix and match the furnishings. The distressed blue/green dresser offers a nice contrast in color agains the navy blue walls.
Here is another before.
As you can see above in the before picture, we have created something really fun with the closet doors. Look closely, do you see anything that looks “abnormal” for closet doors? I will share that tutorial soon.
I will share a complete resource list soon. I have a wide-angle lens on my wish list for Christmas so I am hoping to get a full wide shot soon of the room. I was basically standing in the corner scrunched down taking these pictures. My son said, “mom, why are you hiding in the corner with your tripod?” So what do you think, are you loving navy blue and gold together? This master bedroom makeover has been a long time coming and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. We still need to add a light fixture and I am hoping to find the perfect petite bench for the foot of the bed. It’s on my Christmas list! Thank you so much to Wayfair and Birch Lane for making this room makeover possible. The furnishings are absolutely gorgeous and they coordinate perfectly with our new navy and gold glam styled space. Be sure to check out our fun round up of 10 gorgeous master bedrooms as well.
Disclosure: I was provided with complimentary paint from Sherwin-Williams, bedding by Pine Cone Hill and all of the furniture from Wayfair & Birch Lane. All opinions and words are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links

looks amazing, I can’t stop loving on that gorgeous dresser.
I know the molding was a huge pain, but it’s exactly what I’ve been planning for our master bedroom too! I was originally going to do a square lattice treatment, but since I just did that in our stairwell, I’m back to the narrow molding idea. Seeing your beautiful room just reinforces my plan and that makes me happy 🙂
great job Jessica!
Thanks Cynthia! The dresser is absolutely gorgeous in person. I cannot believe how much the molding changed the look of the room. It’s such an inexpensive way to add charm and character (never mind great texture) to a room. Good luck with your project and glad we inspired you 😉
This looks AMAZING!! The furniture and bedding are so lovely!
I love the suzani coverlet. Where did you get it? I couldn’t find it on Pine Cone Hill website.
Thank you! It’s from Pottery Barn.
Beautiful! I loved the colors, and the glamorous style, and then I spotted that cute whimsical dog pillow! It’s the perfect touch.
Thank you!
It looks amazing! I love the gold molding! What a fantastic idea, you’re a genius!
Wow!!! Seriously amazing Jess! Incredible before and afters! So classy!
What a difference! I love the moulding. Well done. Can’t wait to see the surprise behind the closet doors.
The room turned out so beautiful Jess! I am in love with your dresser, its color and hardware!
Wow! Love the gold!!
I love the nightstand (and how handy that it has a power outlet!!) AND the dresser. What a pretty room!
Thank you Heather! I love that feature on the night stand. It’s fabulous to not have all the cords everywhere!
You killed it! I love the blue walls and all the touches of gold is just gorgeous! And that bed – I die!
Thanks Jenna! I love the bed too!
