Today I am sharing the Nova white walls painting project in my hot mess master bedroom. We moved into our house a year ago this week and my bedroom hasn’t been touched since the movers setup the bed. Last year was a crazy year full of changes and the bedroom was last on my priority list.
You may remember last month I partnered with Modsy and they shared two design styles of what my bedroom would look like given my design preference of a warm rustic theme. I was already in the midst of painting the bedroom white so it was perfect timing when they shared their bedroom ideas.
The bedroom is the darkest bedroom in the house so the walls needed to be brightened up and there is no better color than white to do the trick!

The furniture is the same furniture from my old bedroom at our previous house. Here is a cute Christmas shot of my old bedroom. You may remember that the plaid bedding in the Christmas bedroom sparked an entire bedroom makeover a few years ago and again, the walls got painted white!
Prepare for painting project
The first thing we did was move everything into the middle of the floor.
I enlisted a handyman friend who helps us with home projects when we need extra muscle or I need help painting. Everytime I call him and say, “hey, I need help painting a room,” he laughs because he has literally painted 100’s of rooms with me.
The new color is called Nova White by Glidden.
These are just cell phone shots but you can see the difference between the white and tan paint. The white paint is so much brighter.

I personally love white walls as they make the decorating process so much easier.
White Walls Painting Project
Once the bedroom was painted white, I decided to add the rug from my previous bedroom to the space to break up the wall to wall carpet. Someday I hope to install hardwood flooring in this space but for now the area rug layered on top of the wall to wall carpet will serve as foundation for the bed.
My white walls painting project in my hot mess master went from drab to fab in about a weeks time frame. I will be sharing the full master bedroom reveal soon and I cannot even begin to tell you how dramatic the change is. I ended up making a headboard out of two wall art pieces from HomeGoods and the new seafoam bedding is amazing. My brother removed the old chandelier from the previous owners and I am hoping to find a Caprizi light fixture similar to the design space that Modsy created for me. Be sure to read the Modsy makeover post if you missed it.
