Any cottage cheese lovers out there? So many times I think, what can I eat cottage cheese with? Lets talk about cottage cheese and why it’s good for you. Cottage Cheese Calories are good for you long as you watch your portion size. Cottage cheese is also a great source of protein. I prefer cottage cheese plain and paired with fruit, granola, certain crackers and veggies. Today I am sharing a few of our easy delicious cottage cheese recipes that are quick and easy.
As many of you know, I typically have a meal replacement shake in the morning for breakfast from the best nutritional system out there but sometimes I alternate shakes throughout the day and have cottage cheese in the morning or for a mid-day snack.

Cottage Cheese and granola
Cottage cheese with granola is a good idea as long as you watch the kind of granola you purchase. I try to purchase organic granola that is not loaded with extra added sugar. Natural sugar is ok but in moderation. Granola can be high in calories and carbs so be sure to read the label. A teaspoon of sprinkled granola with a few blueberries and strawberries is a low carb breakfast idea and filling. I remember before I started my “get healthy” journey earlier last year, I thought if I do not eat a lot, I will feel better and drop the sticky weight. Boy was I wrong. Your body needs good carbs, sugars, calories to burn fat naturally. What a wake up call.

Cottage cheese ideas with fruit
Cottage cheese with fruit is a great breakfast or mid afternoon snack. I personally love the small cottage cheese snack packs that you can buy in the grocery store. Cottage cheese calories as long as not combined with high sugar or carb additives are very good for you and filling. My mom and son will sometimes dip crackers in a large cottage cheese container which leads to an empty container quickly. -ha. That is not a good idea if you are trying to watch your calories and carbs.

Baking with Cottage Cheese
Cottage cheese is a great alternative to ricotta cheese when baking. Cottage cheese is healthier and lighter than ricotta cheese and perfect for muffins, quiche and lasagna recipes.
Cottage Cheese and Avocado
Instead of using a high calorie spread, try spreading avocado on your bread when making a sandwich. If I am making a sandwich, I always use the 40 calorie low carb bread. I like the Pepperidge Farm brand but have also used the Gluten Free Ezekiel bread which is delicious if you are gluten free.

I also am a fan of plain Greek yogurt (if I am out of cottage cheese). Plain greek yogurt and cottage cheese are not only high protein foods but healthy. Most everything you buy contains some carbs (your body needs carbs to survive…..just the right kind of carbs!).
These 4 Breakfast Ideas (snack ideas) are “good” cottage cheese calories as long as you don’t eat the entire container of cottage cheese! The snack packs are the perfect portion and I usually try to purchase low fat. Email me if you have any other breakfast ideas that contain cottage cheese. I would love to add your ideas to this post.
