Spooky Halloween Mantel Decor

Today I am showing you spooky halloween mantel decor in our living room and guess what, spooky can still look classy! I am not a huge Halloween decorator but I do love to add hints of Halloween with my Fall decorations and decorating our fireplace mantel is one of my favorite spots to add fun skeletons, pumpkins and spiders.
Halloween Mantel Ideas
Halloween decorations can vary from sophisticated to gaudy. I prefer more of a classy sophisticated halloween fireplace featuring a handful of spooky elements mixed with traditional Fall decor.

Halloween Mantel Decorations with a Mirror
An everyday like this mirror or this mirror (a little cheaper) serves as a backdrop on our stone fireplace mantel for each season and for Halloween, I decided to hang a large black spider to the mirror.
I personally love how the arched metal mirror softens the harsh square lines of the stone fireplace and adds a dramatic focal point.
The mirror also serves as a great backdrop for seasonal wreaths too, as shown here in our Fall Home Tour.
Halloween Decorations Mixed with Fall Decorations
- Decorate the stone fireplace with purple, rattan and metallic pumpkins
- Layer halloween wall art or a halloween mantel sign on the fireplace mantel
- Add a halloween skeleton or halloween figure that sits on the mantel
- Mix in fall leaves or autumn dried flowers as a Fall fireplace garland on top of the mantel
- Mix halloween mantel lights across the mantel to add a fun twinkle at night
Halloween mantel decorating does not need to be complicated! A mix of rattan, glass and wood pumpkins sporting blush and purple create a whimsical classy Halloween mantel theme.
Use a wooden spooky halloween sign on your mantel mixed with Fall decorations to create visual interest and a pop of fun.
I also found this round Halloween sign that worked perfectly on my coffee table as a tray. Cute right?
I am all about easy and simple these days so swapping out my everyday home decor isn’t an option with the change of seasons.
How to decorate a mantel for Halloween
The white firefly tree lights on the mantel are perfect for Fall and Winter as they look so cozy at night lite up. They will look great with holiday garland during Christmas too.

As I mentioned earlier, the firefly lights and the pre-lite tree branch lights add a pretty twinkle at night on the halloween mantel. You also string christmas lights on the mantel too if you didn’t want to invest in firefly lights but these lights from Amazon are a good length for your mantel and affordable.
The Fall decorations and faux dried flowers were actually trimmed from a bouquet that I purchased at HomeGoods.
Black Halloween Decorations
The black mantel garland piece is a small scarf from a halloween costume. You can find black fur pieces in the ribbon or sewing section of Michaels Crafts if you are looking to create this look on your own Fall or Halloween mantel.
You can’t go wrong with the color black when decorating for Halloween. The key though is to mix in other non traditional Halloween colors to keep the room from looking like a freaky gorey space, unless of course you want gore!
Black geometric or textured throw pillows mixed with gray and orange, white and hints of blush help keep the space classy and sophisticated.
Black candle sticks in varying heights are a perfect Fall decoration for either a mantel or a coffee table.
