Our “gaining storage” basement remodelling project that took on a life of its own. What was initially suppose to be a basic basement remodeling project to create a teen hangout space and an additional closet, turned into planked walls, a planked ceiling, fancy vinyl flooring, 5 additional closets and the most amazing sliding barn doors you have ever seen.
I can’t wait to show you the final reveal!!
If you follow us on Facebook and Instagram stories, you know that the week before Christmas, we had a genius idea to start our basement remodeling project. Only we would do that.
We moved everything in the basement to the garage and into my blog studio storage area on the far end of the basement.
The demo and framing began 5 days before Christmas and at the time, I was like, “what is wrong with me?” Jim had no clue what was in store for him when he started dating me last Summer.
You have no idea how excited my dad is that Jim is a contractor and I can torture him now with all my bright ideas ;). I snapped this picture on day 1 at 7am before the fun began.
All kidding aside, Jim had a small window of time during the Christmas holiday to help get this project moving along so needless to say, we jumped at the chance to get the necessary storage we were looking for and create a space for the Xbox and teens that invade my house.

We decided to finish about 1000 square feet to gain storage space for my dads tools and a coat closet under the stairs.
It didn’t take long for the ideas to start flowing and what was suppose to be a basic basement remodel turned into a closet for my mom, 2 utility closets, a space for my dads tools, a coat closet and a cute pantry closet.

Above you can see where we decided to make a partition wall between what will be the new finished space and the unfinished space (my blog studio). The unfinished space is where I keep all my decor, photography props and all my season decor. It’s quite the sight I must say :). I often times share the space on my Instagram stories which creates a lot of comments so be sure to follow my Instagram account. Stay tuned, we partnered with several brands to get this space finished and the flooring, ceiling and doors are amazing so check back this weekend for the next stage of our gaining storage basement remodel project.
