Today I am sharing my Holiday Brown Wood Mantel Decorating Ideas and Christmas red living room with the cutest vintage holiday throw pillows.
What a difference a year makes! It’s hard to believe that this time last year I was going through a separation which led to divorce and my grandfather was holding on by a thread, which ended with his passing earlier this year. Decorating a holiday mantel and Christmas tree was definitely not in my mindset last year.
Holiday Mantel Decorating Ideas
I can remember like it was yesterday that pit in my stomach as I reluctantly put our Christmas tree up last year, not wanting to decorate at all. I did it for my son though, trying to keep things somewhat routine and normal around the holidays.
This year is completely different, in fact, I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. If you follow my personal Facebook and Instagram account and stories, you know that I met an amazing person (and is pretty handsome if I do say so myself!) and am very happy. It’s crazy how when one door closes another one opens.
This year I spent a couple days decorating our Christmas living room in red and white along with our brown wood mantel. My creativity was back this Christmas and it was fun going through old ornaments and shopping for new.

White Christmas Stocking Ideas
I found these beautiful white cable knit Christmas stockings and white yarn tree at Homegoods along with the marble topped Christmas hangers. I think the white contrast with the holiday brown wood mantel looks great.
Aren’t they the cutest?
The mirror from Homegoods remains a staple in our living room and it the perfect backdrop for seasonal wreaths. The brown iron on the mirror is a pretty contrast with the brown wood mantel.
Red Holiday Tree and wood mantel Decorating Ideas
I picked up new red plaid and Italian hand blown ornaments this year along with oversized red ball ornaments from Homegoods that I placed along the inside base of the tree to fill in the gaps. Large oversized ornaments are a cheap way to fill in the gaps!
The red tree picks and cute vintage cars were also new purchases this year.
Christmas decorating ideas using red throw pillows
Throw pillows. I just can’t get enough of Christmas throw pillows. For those of you who have been in my basement, you know I have an obsession with throw pillows.
All of the holiday mantel decor, Christmas ornaments, throw pillows, coffee table decor are from Homegoods.
