We recently returned from our vacation to Cape Cod in Brewster, Massachusetts where we stayed at Ocean Edge Resort. I grew up in Massachusetts and have visited the Cape many times but this was my first time staying at Ocean Edge Resort. It was my husband, son and I traveling so it was important for us to stay at a hotel that was child friendly but still offered the casual elegance that my husband and I love.
We stayed in one of the East-side mansion guest rooms which I must say, was absolutely gorgeous.
As soon as I walked in the room, I knew this place was fabulous! The romantic bedding with drapery treatment at the headboards and custom embroidery on the pillows and duvets made me smile. My husband thought I was out of my mind being excited over the wallpaper and bedding but what can I say, I like charm and character!
I didn’t have my tripod with me but did bring my camera so I was able to take some interior shots of the room. I normally wouldn’t take pictures of a hotel room while on vacation but the fresh and modern themed, gold herringbone & geometric wallpaper coordinated with a striped woven rug, chair rails and crown molding had my DIY brain in full gear.
The pictures are not as crisp and clear as they would be if had my tripod, but you will get the jist of just how gorgeous the east side mansion guest rooms are. My son asked, “umm, why can’t I get on the bed?” I said, “as soon as I get pictures for the blog, you can.” He said, “why does the blog care about our bed on vacation?” He is a funny one that son of mine.
The expansive changing area and double sinks excited my husband. We don’t share well when getting ready so double sinks with a separate changing area was a nice surprise.
The welcome treats excited my son.
We spent everyday at the resorts private beach and pool area. My son describes the beach walkway as a fun winding trail through the jungle. Didn’t you know there was a jungle in Brewster, Ma.? This is probably one of the most peaceful, clean and warmest beaches I have ever been to on the Cape.

It happened to be in the 90’s while we were there so the water was extremely warm and perfect for swimming. We sat right in the water in our chairs while our son played in the water. My toes were loving the warm soft sand.

My son loved the beachside cabana where he would get his daily hot dog and special frozen kids drink.

This is the back side of the mansion which had the most amazing hydrangeas flanking the stone wall.
We enjoyed two dinners at the Ocean Terrace restaurant located on the resort property. The outdoor restaurant features a sophisticated bar and dining area with breathtaking views of Cape Cod Bay. The sunset was spectacular our first night.
Can I just tell you that while the restaurant is perfect for dining as a couple it is equally perfect for enjoying a family dinner with children. The restaurant has their own “young adult” menu which featured many of my sons favorites. We are seafood lovers, so grilled swordfish and pan roasted halibut were among our choices with my son opting for the chicken and pasta.
My son rolled his eyes as I took pictures of our food. I told him we were creating a memory book of our trip and we needed to remember what we ate! He thinks his momma is crazy!
My son’s favorite, the S’mores cookies and milk dessert. The restaurant and resort do a fabulous job catering to children while still maintaining an elegant and luxurious atmosphere.
While on vacation, my husband and I also celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary so we took the opportunity to celebrate while away.
The outfit I am wearing above is from the resorts “She Sells” clothing and gift shop. The shop is across the street from the Mansion before the entrance to the golf course. We frequented the fabulous coffee shop, “Jomamas” which shares the space with She Sells.
We visited many of the surrounding towns which I will share in another post during this week. To much for one post!
We are already thinking about when we can head back to the Cape and visit Ocean Edge again. Some of the children’s activities on the resort that we didn’t get a chance to try were the kite flying events on the front lawn, Ocean Edge Venture and the S’mores family beach fire. Perhaps we may need to take another vacation to Cape Cod in 2014!

We did receive a complimentary service from Ocean Edge however, all opinions and words are 100% mine.

I could have written half this post myself!! I also grew up in Mass and vacation in Cape Cod quite often – actually we just returned from a week in Popponnesset. I love She Shells!! Very cute place. I haven’t been to this resort, though, and it looks lovely! Many years ago I live in Hyannisport, and I rarely go any further down Cape than that but last week we went to P-town and the Truro Winery which was fun! Off to read more of your blog!
That is so great! I love the Cape 🙂 Glad you stopped by and nice to meet you!
