Thank you for all of your sweet comments on our Cape Cod vacation post at Ocean Edge Resort from the beginning of the week. Today I am sharing a few things to do in Cape Cod. Besides spending time at the resort, we spent an afternoon in Harwich Port which is a beachside community located along the Nantucket Sound about a 20 minutes (depending on traffic) from the resort in Brewster, Ma. I received an email from a reader who recognized a picture of Ocean Edge that I had posted on our facebook page during our vacation. Her family owns a frozen yogurt shop in Harwich Port and she invited us to stop by, so we did! You can find it right on Main Street, Frozen Yogurt On The Half Shell.
The Brewster Fish House is within a 1/4 mile from the resort, featuring fresh seafood which made this a favorite lunch spot.
The Brewster Coffee House is also on Main Street in Brewster (about a 1/4 mile from the resort) which was crawling with people every morning waiting for a home cooked breakfast meal. Don’t be deterred by the line of people waiting, they are super fast! We enjoyed breakfast a couple times here and it was delicious and very reasonably priced.
Chatham, Ma is about 15-20 minutes from the Ocean Edge Resort depending on traffic and is another favorite spot on Cape Cod. I have stayed at the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Chatham many times so am very familiar with the town. The Main street (below) is meticulously maintained featuring gorgeous hydrangeas and blooming flowers throughout, charming boutiques, restaurants, penny candy stores and ice cream shops. The Chatham Bars Inn is also another favorite spot of mine.
We spent a day in Chatham just walking around town, shopping and enjoying a dinner at the Golden Goose Tavern on Main Street.
The Golden Goose Tavern is very casual and super kid friendly.
We did a little shopping back in Brewster near the resort at She Sells, the Ocean Edge boutique and gift shop. My son purchased a crab puppet with the spending money his grammie gave him. He was so excited, before we left on vacation my mom and my grandfather both gave him spending money. I remember as a kid going on vacation and my parents always giving my brother and I a little fun money. A tradition my mom is passing down.
My son and husband stayed in the adjoining coffee shop, Jo-mamma’s while I tried on a few outfits. Isn’t this blue jumper adorable below? So fun!
Of course the beaches in Brewster, Harwichport and Chatham are all beautiful. Most of our days were spent at the beach relaxing and trying to stay cool.
Ocean Terrace at the Ocean Edge Resort, as I mentioned in our Cape Cod vacation post, is also a perfect spot for lunch or dinner if you want to eat outdoors and enjoy the view of the ocean.
There are so many things to do in Cape Cod, these are just a few. There are also golf courses, miniature golf courses, go-karting and miles of bike and walking paths. Be sure to check out our 2012 Cape Cod vacation experience in Dennis Port, Ma as well as our post from the beginning of the week featuring Ocean Edge Resort for more ideas. Have a great rest of the week!

What started as a hobby, Jessica’s blog now has millions of people visit yearly and while many of the projects and posts look and sound perfect, life hasn’t always been easy. Read Jessica’s story and how overcoming death, divorce and dementia was one of her biggest life lessons to date.
Jessica, you have me wishing so badly that we rented a Cape house this summer! It sounds like the perfect week of going to the beach, eating and shopping!! The Impudent Oyster in Chatham is one of our faves….we have the menu framed in our house….have you eaten there? Also love the Wequasset and Chatham Bars Inn, hoping to sneak away with my husband in September to one of them.
Looks like a fun and beautiful place to visit!
I stay in Harwich port too! and went to that yogurt place.. love the cape!
