How To Clean A Grill
My friend thought I was out of my mind when I told her I wanted to try out this new product and experiment how well it cleaned a grill.
Grills can get very dirty inside and out quickly. It always seems like a simple idea to clean it after each use but for some reason, that doesn’t always happen.
Step 1: Mix Homemade Cleaner In Spray Bottle
Mix the Tide Oxi Stain laundry detergent with warm water in a spray bottle.
I followed the directions on the back of the container and simply added to a bottle instead of a bucket.
Cleaning Tips
Test grill cleaner on a small portion of the grill to ensure it does not cause damage & clean grill in a shaded area, the sun will dry out the cleaning solution quickly
Spray a generous amount of cleaner on the grill and let it sit for a few seconds before removing.

Step 2: Wipe Off Cleaner
Once I sprayed the grill cleaner on the gas grill, I let it set for a few seconds and then wiped it off with a paper towel.
I did have a small bucket, sponge and warm water on hand to wipe any excess laundry detergent solution off the stainless steel grill.
Step 3: Buff Grill Dry
I used a soft white painters rag to dry and buff the Weber stainless steel grill giving it a smooth shiny finish.
The improvement of this old BBQ gas grill is amazing and my friend isn’t laughing at me anymore!
Not to shabby right?
Minus a few dings and scratches that have occurred over the past few years, her gas grill is sporting a shiny new look and I must say, I am jealous I cleaned her grill and not mine.

As you know, grill grates (stainless steel or cast iron) get nasty and gross quickly so it’s important to have a handy sturdy brush to clean off the food while the grates are hot.
Best Way to Clean a Grill
The Tide OXI Multi-purpose Stain Remover exceeded my expectations and it really smells good too.
I truly think this is the best way to clean a grill – using a homemade cleaner from a laundry product that many of you may already have in your home.
The great thing about this product is it has over 225 cleaning uses and more being added every day. I’ve only had it for a week and I’ve used it to clean our shower tile, kitchen sink, the grill, a nasty mold stain on our back door and of course, I’ve added it to the washer drum to clean the clothes.

I don’t have a picture but we had a really nasty stain on our berber carpet in our family room that was caused by one of our dogs and we couldn’t get the stain out so I sprayed some of the Tide OXI I had left over in the bottle on it and let it sit for a few minutes and then gently scrubbed with a soft brush. I know scrubbing a carpet is not the best idea but I had nothing to lose (the stain was gross!) and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it cleaned up!

Did you use the solution on the grill grates too? Mine are really nasty and caked with crud so hoping this might work.
I didn’t but that’s because I am crazy about not putting any cleaner near anything that touches food. Try scrubbing with SOS pad and putting in dishwasher….that’s what I do 🙂
