The moving update that keeps on changing. Buying and Selling at the same time is no joke. It’s a pain in the BUTT to be honest.  I know I have been quiet about our pending move and it’s mostly because I don’t want to jinx anything. It’s been a rollercoaster as the house went off and on the market 3 times. All with the same buyer. -ha. You may remember that we put our house on the market late last October as a house in town became available that we have always loved. It was way out of our price range but we were able to come to an agreement with the seller so 2 days later, our house was on the market, October 22, 2017.

Our Multigenerational House is For Sale

The back of our current house

Many of you have emailed, messaged and commented on blog posts asking why on earth we would ever want to move after all the work we have put into the house. That is a very legit question. -ha.

My parents have owned the house for 30 years and we moved here when I was in High School. There have been so many life events in this house it’s hard to remember them all. My gram passed away last November and my grandfather is now living full time in the Nursing Home so we honestly feel like a change would be good. We do not necessarily need two kitchens and we love the acreage and the quiet lot that the new house has. The new house is set far off the road in the middle of the woods and is completely different than our current home. Like really different. We will be doing lots of cosmetic things to update the house to our style and there will be loads of DIY blog projects coming soon. It has a beautiful pool area and a barn for my dad’s tractor and tools.

So what is going on with the sale of our current home? Our buyers are amazing and they are a three generation family who will utilize the house just like we do.  They had a couple issues come up that prevented them from being able to move forward on two different occasions but they didn’t give up and they are back. The house is back under agreement and we are hopefully closing the 2nd – 3rd week of February. They also have a house to sell so that domino effect can cause problems as many of you know. So fingers crossed, we have a couple more hoops to jump through (bank stuff) and hopefully by the end of the week, we will have a solid close date.

wishing you all the best. I have unexpectedly decided to sell and move our of state. Daughter #2 is handling the financial side of things and dau #3 is in charge of finding me a home near her, out of state.. I have decided to give up most of my belongings, seeing lawyers and drs. Getting my “house in Order”. Stressful, but know we will all get there later, if not sooner. Good luck to you. Jacquelyn

    1. Oh wow! Good luck to you too. Sounds like you have a lot of changes coming up 🙂

  2. I’m so sorry to hear about your grandma… When I first started following you many years ago I couldn’t believe you all lived in the same house. How sweet is that? We can’t stop life’s changes and it sounds like you guys are ready to make a good move for all of you. Good luck and I hope everything works out just as it should!

    1. Thank you Toni! When my husband and I moved here almost 10 years ago it was suppose to be temporary and we thought about buying something then with my parents but then shortly after , my grandparents were failing in Florida so they needed to move back here to be with family. Hence, four generations under one roof 🙂 It’s crazy how it seems so long ago but in some cases it feels like yesterday both of my grandparents were healthy and walking. Time is a funny thing. Thank you for stopping by and your sweet words 🙂

You shouldn’t have to explain to anyone why you would want to move. Change is fun! Hoping it all works out for you and yours and I cannot wait to see you make lots of changes in the new place!

  4. Excited for you! Prayers up!
