Yesterday I shared our blue bathroom Christmas makeover and a few of  you emailed asking where I bought the snowflake wall art. Well, I made it! DIY wall art is a great way to add charm and character to a room. This Christmas piece only took 5 minutes and I must say, it added a great statement piece to the room for under $2.

First I took an empty white frame and added a snowflake ornament that I had purchased at our local Party supply store. They were on sale for $1 each and I loved the color!

Next I took blue velour ribbon that I purchased at Home Goods and simply framed the edges with the ribbon using tape to secure to the frame. You could use hot glue but I wanted to be able to remove the ribbon after Christmas so tape did the trick.

I was so surprised to see this ribbon at Home Goods. They have so many colors and other coordinating gift accessories.

Wrap all four sides and then you are finished.

I love how this simple inexpensive idea added such a fun pop of color to the bathroom.

I decided to embellish the glass vase holders with the ribbon as well. I decided to go very simple and casual in this bathroom and the snowflake wall art added just enough pizzaz without going overboard. Sometimes less is more when it comes to decorating and for me, that is sometimes difficult. It is so easy to get overwhelmed while searching pinterest or decorating magazines for inspiration. So what do you think, could you make your own DIY snowflake wall art? You sure can! Find an old frame and either make a paper snowflake out of colored scrapbook or purchase an inexpensive snowflake ornament and embellish the frame with ribbon you love. That’s it, easy peasy.
