I had originally planned to share a tutorial today but we had a change of plans yesterday that honestly, made me feel like not editing photo’s. My grandfather’s cat took a turn for the worse over the weekend. I knew when I was writing the post last week about my grandfather and his cat, that it was for a reason and his time was coming to an end.
After 15 years and a wonderful life, our little Friday is now in pet heaven. My grandfather is sad but knows it was for the best. I think he is a bit relieved that it is over although I am not sure if he will ever be the same. That cat was his best friend. Thankfully the warmer weather will be here soon and he can get out into his workshop and start making things. A man and his cat, a beautiful story and wonderful memories.
We will miss you Friday!
xoxo

Your poor grandfather, I feel bad for him! 🙁
So sorry about your cat Friday. We lost one of our dear cats in November and we were all so sad to see him go. He was such a great companion. We were fortunate to have him for 13 great years. I still find myself tearing up once in awhile when I think of him.
Thank you Nancy. Sorry about your cat, I’m sure that was tough on your daughter. My son is only six and this is the first pet we have lost since he was born (well that he remembers) so it’s sad to see him so upset.
I’m so sorry for your loss, especially for your grandfather. It’s so hard to lose a pet. They worm their way into your heart.
You are so right Katie, thank you!
Oh no….I’m so sorry! It sounds like Friday was a great cat and he was very loved.
Thank you Shelley. He was a great cat 🙂
I am so sorry for your loss! Our 16 year old cat, Sarah, died a few months back! It is so hard to lose a family pet. Tell your grandfather that I am so sorry and I am thinking of him! 🙁
Thanks Dona. Sorry about your cat. It’s so hard to loose a pet.
So sorry for the loss of your furry family member! They do find their way into your heart and will always be loved even when no longer with us. We lost our cat a couple of years ago. On a particularly sad day, I was driving past a shelter. I started visiting purely to play with the cats. Then one day, a little black cat with frost bitten little ears stole my heart. He has been in our home for a couple of years now. Again, sorry for your loss but do know that there are lots of cats out there happy to have a kind human who will play with them, even just for a few minutes.
Thank you Susan.
RIP Friday.
Though gone, your memories will live on. May they bring comfort to those left behind. Know that Friday waits at the Rainbow Bridge.
Thank you CarolAnne 🙂
Send our condolences to your grandfather for the loss of his best friend. I, too, know how it feels to lose a wonderful pet. We had a dog, Pete, when our kids were teenagers. I used to tell the kids that Pete was the only one in the house that would listen to me – and he really would! He seemed to understand my every word and did whatever I told him. But one morning while the kids were leaving for school, he slipped out the front door and ran in front of the school bus just as it was leaving (chasing something we think). I couldn’t even go to work that day. That afternoon, my daughter brought home a kitten to cheer me up – and it worked.
Thank you. So sorry about your dog 🙁 Glad you got a kitty though, they are such great companions 🙂
So sorry to hear about Friday. 🙁
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Friday. M mother is attached to her cat the same way. I know that their cats are a big part of their lives. The unconditional love of a pet is a life changer. Please tell our grandfather that my thought and prayers are with him and your family.
Thank you Deb. I sure will 🙂
Jessica,
I am so sorry to hear this. I know that Friday is so special to both of you. What a blessing that he has a place to create…..and heal.
blessings,
karianne
Thank you kari Anne!
Animals are more than pets; they are a part of our families and it hurts just as much when we lose one. The picture you posted of the two of them was priceless. I am confident your grandfather will cherish it. You might want to consider having it printed onto fabric and making a pillow for your grandfather. Then he can still snuggle with his beloved Friday.
Thank you Betsy. That is a great idea 🙂
I’m so sorry for your loss. Our pets leave us too soon. After I lost my 14 year old cat, I stopped at a pet shelter “just to look.” That day Smokey said “please take me home.” So I did! No one can replace my wonderful Sam, but Smokey Bear is a joy.
Thanks Katie 🙂 Awww, cute about your little Smokey Bear.
Awww. So sorry your grandfather lost his beloved companion.
Thank you Kim.
So sorry to hear about your grandfathers sweet cat. Always hard to loose furbabies.
Thank you Erika 🙂

I am sorry for you and your Grampa’s loss, it is not an easy thing. take care
Awww thank you Julie 🙂 Glad you found us!
I am so sorry for your families loss. I just ended up on your website via Pinterest, and A Man and His Cat was the first post I read. You wrote about their friendship so beautifully, I am in tears. My sister is also in a four-generation living situation right now, and from the little I’ve read so far, I believe a lot of the same hurts, happiness and stories come out of their house as well. I cannot wait to pass it on to her. In the meantime, I know words can’t offer a lot of comfort, but I am sure that Friday is waiting at the end of the Rainbow Bridge for Grandpa.
Awww thank you Caroline 🙂 So sweet of you. Glad you found us and how cool your sister is in a four generational home. Well, hopefully she likes it 🙂 Have a great night!
I’m so sorry to hear about your grandfather’s cat.
We have a 19+ year old cat. We will be experiencing the same relief yet sadness when the time comes. The same with our 16+ year old dog who has melanoma. It’s been nearly a year since the diagnosis. We may need a 2-for-1 special at the vet’s office soon.
Pet Heaven has a lot of special family members.
(((hugs)))
Your poor grandfather! So sorry for your family’s loss of Friday!
