Thank you so much for all the kind words about our recent covered porch makeover. It’s a very relaxing place! Of course, I can’t sit still though and enjoy it because I started another project that will keep me busy for most of the summer probably! ha. We have a pool house that until recently, served as my husband’s drum room and storage for pool supplies. He recently moved his drums to another area which freed up this space. My dad recently renovated this space a couple years ago from a screened in structure to an enclosed space with floor to ceiling windows and french doors. It has SO much potential!
Are you loving the red bulb? That light makes me laugh every time I see it. That was my husbands idea of a rock bulb. Here is an inspirational photo that I found on pinterest a couple weeks ago. I love the planked ceiling and walls.
The cement floor is in need of some TLC. We had some water damage over the winter so that needs to be addressed.
I love the french doors and how they open up to the pool area.
Can you see the potential? I envision a crisp white cottage style planked space!
The pool house makeover has begun! My husband and I removed everything from the room last week and I have started painting and adding a simple board and batten wall treatment. I would love to add wide planks to the floor but for now, it may get painted. What do you think? What would you do with this space?
Update: See the final reveal makeover here. The pool house was finished in July!
Meet Jessica
What started as a hobby, Jessica’s blog now has millions of people visit yearly and while many of the projects and posts look and sound perfect, life hasn’t always been easy. Read Jessica’s story and how overcoming death, divorce and dementia was one of her biggest life lessons to date.
You mentioned water damage? If that is even somewhat frequent, I’d paint it!!
Hi Jess, I would use very cool blues and greens with lots of tropical plants and an indoor/outdoor carpet.
Can’t wait to see what you do with it! Love the french doors! x
Thank you Danielle 🙂 Hope you are enjoying your new home!!
Seriously Jess, when do you sleep?!!# As soon as school is out, we are getting together….maybe some of your DIY will rub off on me ;)))
I can’t wait to see what you do with it! It will be such a relaxing place 🙂
I would paint the floors for sure. Then you never have to worry about water damage (water that comes off people when they get out of the pool :). Love the space. I would put some kind of day bed in it, so it can transform into a guest house when needed.
I painted it 🙂
I found a couple of inspiration photos on Pinterest that I loved, so I thought I’d put the links here:

I know that’s a lot, but the last two are there just so you can see the ceilings – they’re awesome! Enjoy!
I love the planks on walls. Funny, one of the pins you sent is very similar to a sofa table I have in there painted duck egg blue by ASCP 🙂
Oh, this is going to be fun to watch! I love your spaces!~~Angela
Love the idea of the plank walls. I vote for a fun painted floor!
