Hey everyone, this post was written prior to us having to put our bullmastiff (our dog featured in this post) to sleep over a month ago. I wrote this post for a wonderful brand and it would be a shame to not share it with you. Hope you enjoy….our pup sure did :). We are like many of you, our pets are like our children. We have two horses, two dogs and of course, my grandfather’s new cat Sophie. Our dogs are short haired and shed a few times a year. Our big guy is a bullmastiff and our little girl is a boxer. They are cutie pies! I love when we get to do fun blog projects around our dogs and I was so excited when, FURminator® Professional Pet Care Products, makers of the FURminator® tools reached out to see if we would be interested in trying their new grooming products for dogs.
What is the FURminator® FURflex™ pet hair system? It’s a new line of interchangeable grooming tools that are sold exclusively at PetSmart. For us, our dogs are short haired but when they shed, it’s bad. I personally think our bull mastiff loves to be brushed. If only I knew what he was thinking during his grooming time. He just kind of sits there and moves his head around and pushes himself into the grooming tool. Like, he wants more. For those of you who have dogs that love to be groomed, you know what I mean.
I tried out three different grooming heads in the FURminator® FURflex™ tool line and simply swapped them out super quick. They pop right in with a click and release very easily. The handle fits comfortably in your hand and has a rubber texture. First, I popped the deShedding tool into the handle and started gently grooming our bull mastiff. The deShedding tool isn’t going to completely get rid of all the hair but it will pick up the loose hair.
He absolutely loves being groomed. It’s kind of like a back scratch right?
Next up was the dual slicker brush. This is great for dogs that may have mats or long tangled hair. It gently removes the mats without pulling. Our dogs are short haired so this didn’t really apply to them but I did try it and I could tell he loved the feeling. -ha. You know, when they start to kick their leg because it feels good. Yep, this boy would sit still all day long if it meant being groomed. One of the best things about the FURminator® FURflex™ tool is that they are designed so that you cannot cut your pet. They are designed to loosen the hair and gently remove the undercoat without damaging even delicate skin. Clearly, you need to use the tool properly and not be rough but if used accordingly, you will see that the tool is fabulous.
Another tool that I tried and thought was fabulous was the FUR Accumulator tool. This thing took all the hair off the sides of our white couch! Yep, many of you know, we have a large white sectional in our family room and yes, the dogs rub up against it and occasionally have been known to sneak up and have a nap :). The FUR Accumulator tool removes pet hair from upholstery, rugs, carpets and even pet beds.
I don’t know about you but I don’t always have time to take the dogs to the groomer and having these easy and quick grooming tools available especially when they are shedding is a no brainer. Plus, these tools are pretty :). They are super cool looking and I love that I can create my own grooming box and add to it as time goes on. Dogs shed. That’s just the way it is. I am not saying that these grooming tools will eliminate dog hair or dogs shedding for that matter but obviously, if you groom your dogs on a regular basis, the shedding will be manageable. I wish our German shepherd was still alive, he was long haired and shed like a maniac. It was awful! Dog hair everywhere! These tools would have been PERFECT for him but he’s in doggie heaven now enjoying running through fields and eating whatever he wants :).
