Happy Sunday! We are spending the day at the lake doing more cleanup, staining the deck and attempting to measure the depth of the lake in front of our site. We bought a boat that arrives tomorrow and we need to get the dock ready. My grandfather is planning to head to the lake later today to see all the progress but only if he finishes painting 30 Santa Clause’s. Ha. Yes, the man is working on his Christmas gifts and I happened to see a stack of wooden Santa Clause’s that he hand cut and is now painting. Be sure to check out his workshop if you haven’t already. It’s quite impressive!
Do you follow us on instagram? We have been sharing our lake dates and family fun and these are a few of our favorites over the past week or two.
Sunny mornings at the lake are absolutely beautiful.
You can see above, we cleaned up around the deck where the camper is leading down to the water. We need to get a load of stone delivered to create a path to the water. Did you notice the new deck? Once it’s stained, I will share before and after pictures.
I have been having a little fun with our Christmas lights ;). It looks pretty cool at night!
Unfortunately, night time pictures on my iphone don’t come out very well but you get the just right? So much work to do around this site that I think most of the summer will be spent cleaning, staining and fixing. We are looking forward to the new boat arriving and excited to spend the summer on the water. We are part of a “how to decorate” blog hop that starts tomorrow so I am off to finish staining one of the decks and plant a couple new container plants. I will be sharing how to decorate with container plants as part of the blog hop party so stay tuned, we’ll be back Tuesday!

I am enjoying your progress about your lake side camping site. Are you going out there on the weekends to do this work? When you say ‘for the summer’ I think of around 3 months of time, but I only get 2 weeks off my job every year (luckily it builds up to a certain point so if I saved enough time I could have 4 months off, but that take a long time to build up!) And how far away is this lakeside retreat from your house? Do you have to travel hours to get there each time? Just curious how that’s all working out, since you’re doing a lot of clean up and it looks like several supply runs are being made.
We go out during the week and weekends after work. It’s been a great experience! We rented the site for 5 months (May through November 1) .
