Surgery + Portugal Amazon Island Wear

Checking in with a life update and some recent Amazon finds! If you follow us on Instagram, you know that we recently got back from a family trip to Portugal and I wanted to share the fun Amazon Island Wear that I brought on the trip!

Before we get started with fun Amazon finds, I wanted to share that this past April, I had surgery for complete hysterectomy. While I haven’t shared anything personal on the blog in a while, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster the last year or so with several abnormal test results in the “gynecological department” 😫 resulting in pre-cancerous cells with a high likelihood of developing into cancer. After several procedures with no success of removing the bad cells, I decided it was safest to have everything removed and I’m happy to say, I’m on the mend! 😃 I share this because most of you are women who read my blog (and if you are a man, well share this info with your female friends or significant other!) and getting your yearly exams is a MUST regardless of your age! My gutt told to push for yearly exams, even though it’s not “always covered by insurance” because I knew something was off. Always go with your intuition! If it doesn’t feel or sound right, get a second opinion. So many details on this topic that maybe I will share a dedicated post because I’m starting to hijack my Amazon post with hysterectomy stuff! ha.

amazon woman outdoor beach wear and one piece bathing suit with tummy control

One Piece Bathing Suit With Tummy Control & Coverup

Hot Pink, Black, Cover Up and Reef Sandles | All other items pictured above here on my Amazon Storefront

I haven’t worn a one piece bathing suit since I was a kid but they seem to be making a comeback featuring tummy control and the cutest designs! The surgery left some scars that haven’t quite healed up and well, not being as active this year, deemed a “tummy control” bathing suit. I picked up this pink and black two-piece which is family friendly and flattering! If you have teenagers, you know exactly what I mean about the “family friendly!” -ha. I absolutely love how they fit, great quality and the “off or on” the shoulder cover up is so soft and comfortable.

The pink Yeti cooler and tumbler (just in time for the Barbi Movie launch – which wasn’t planned btw…) are weekend Amazon Sale finds as well as the coordinating beach towel, earrings and washable beach bag. I thought they all coordinated nicely together!

  1. Hi Jessica,

Glad you are on the mend! I had a total hysterectomy this past January for the same reasons: pre-cancerous cells. So, I completely understand your journey. Best of luck to you!

    1. Thank you and ugh, sorry you had to do that too ! Better to get it all out and be done with it 🤷‍♀️

  2. Glad you took your own advise. After 65 no more paps. Had another problem and they found cancer to always advocate for yourself. Loved the pictures and you and Jimbo make a cute couple with so much in common.

    1. Than you Gail! Appreciate that 🙂 And I totally agree, and it baffles me what their recommendations are. I will always advocate 1x/year !! I hope your health is ok now!

  3. I had same surgery and sunk into deep depression several months later due to no more production of estrogen. Docs don’t like to give estrogen replacement any more if you have likelihood of cancer so I am on antidepressent now. Hope that doesn’t happen to you because it is very difficult. Wishing you good health !

    1. Hi! I am sorry to hear this! Yes, it’s mind boggling what NO estrogen does to us women!! Thank you for the encouragement and hoping you stay healthy too 🙂

  4. Thank you for sharing a snippet of your personal health journey. The timing was something, as I just had my 3 week post-op appt. today for the same surgery. Feeling very blessed by God, that the final pathology was still pre-cancerous and no concurrent cancer! Again, thank you for sharing your experience. Blessings to you.
