Story Land, where fantasy lives. A motto that I wish for on occasion.  We wrapped up our summer fun at Story Land in Glen, NH this past weekend. Story Land is a fantasy filled amusement park for young children filled with your favorite nursery rhyme characters, family friendly rides and attractions, games, barn yard animals and a ridiculous amount of gift shops. They say most appropriately for ages 12 and under but I think probably age 10 would be ok, maybe a little boring but I think it depends on your child. In my opinion, children ages 3-8 probably enjoy it the most.

It was my son’s first time (age 5) and he absolutely loved it. It was a last minute trip and wouldn’t you know it, it turned out to be one of the best. Why is it that whenever something is pre planned and very well thought out, it doesn’t end up as good as a last minute decision? We usually do one trip during the summer and then some small day trips here and there but this year, we decided that two vacations would be ok.

After scouring the local hotels, b&b’s and resorts, we settled on the Residence Inn by Marriott in North Conway, NH. There are many family friendly resorts but being last minute, our choices were limited. The Residence Inn  is new as of 2010 so everything inside was beautiful, new, modern and VERY clean. The fact that this hotel is 5 miles from Story Land, has studio rooms equipped with full modern gorgeous kitchens, new baths, gorgeous linens, full hot buffet breakfast included (which was good!) as well as being very reasonably priced, makes this our first choice for our next trip to North Conway, NH. We went on a Sunday to Story Land as it’s the least crowded day (tip from a friend) and boy was she right! No lines, NO wait! PERFECT! We spent about 6 hours in the park. We were a little exhausted by the end of the day .

This is my insane husband standing on the media console re-directing the air conditioner vent because he was cold! I suggested adjusting the thermostat but no, he insisted on using his little MacGyver knife set.

The first day was over 95 degrees. This was our reaction to my husband’s tank top he had to stop and buy because he was so hot. I am not a fan of tank tops on men 🙁 Call me a snob, I don’t care. I just don’t like them.

The Bamboo Chutes water ride was our favorite.  If you follow me on facebook and twitter  you have already seen this picture, it’s my favorite.

If you live in New England and haven’t been to Story Land, I highly recommend it! We will definitely be heading back for the Polar Express extravaganza in December. Traveling to Storyland in Glen, NH was fabulous trip and certainly something my son will remember. Perfect memories :).

  1. What a fun trip! We can’t wait to go later this month 🙂

  2. StoryLand is a must for any New Enlgander. I’m in my fifties and we went there as kids, I then brought my kids when they were small, and have now taken my grandson, and are planning on taking the other grands soon!

It will be a sad day for New Hampshire if it ever closes!!

Looks like you had a fantastic family day. That’s what it’s all about.:)

    1. Thanks Kathy! Oh my goodness, I hope it never closes down. The place is just so fun and clean. I couldn’t believe how clean and tidy everything was. Loved it 🙂

  3. Isn’t Storyland awesome?! So great for little kids.
Although I have to admit – my cousins and I went there well into our teenage years! My family has a cabin just a few miles from Storyland and 30+ of us gather there every summer – and Storyland is always on our to-do list. Now that we have our own little ones, we have a good excuse to go back! We are actually headed up to our cabin this week and it will be the first year that I bring my son to Storyland. He is only 21 months so I am guessing I will enjoy it more than him! 🙂

    1. It is such a beautiful area and so many things to do. Have a great time and thanks for stopping by 🙂

  4. I hope to see your version of that bench soon. I’ll be watching for it!

  5. My family used to vacation in North Conway and go to Story Land when I was a kid. One of my favorite things was trying out the Three Little Bears’ beds!

    1. I know, aren’t they the cutest! They had a little barn yard animal space with the 3 little pigs and they were so adorable 🙂

  6. I love love story land, we used to go there every summer when I was growing up. Now I have to wait and have kids of my own to justify going back!
