Today I am sharing our Meredith NH Things To Do & Stay vacation recap on Lake Winnipesaukee. Meredith NH is a quaint town situated on one of New Hampshire’s most stunning lakeside communities. If you are looking for a weekend getaway or day trip, you definitely should consider visiting Meredith New Hampshire.
Meredith has several restaurants, outdoor lake activities, miniature golf, boating activities and several things to do for all ages. We have stayed several times at Mill Falls Resort and Church Landing which are two hotels on Lake Winnipesaukee owned by the same company.

Meredith NH Hotels
You will not find any “chain style” hotels in Meredith. The majority of the places to stay are small quaint Inns, bed and breakfasts with a handful of larger hotel style Inns like Mill Falls, Baypoint at Mill falls and Church Landing at Mill Falls. We have never stayed at Baypoint but I have read good things about it.
I won’t lie, these 3 places are a bit pricey per night and you are paying for the location, the lake view and amenities.
If you still want to enjoy the town and everything it has to offer, consider renting our lake house in Barnstead New Hampshire and make a day trip to Meredith.
Our lake house is direct waterfront just 28 miles to Meredith NH.

Mill Falls Meredith NH
Prior to purchasing our own lake house near Lake Winnipesaukee, I had stayed several times at the Inn at Mill Falls which is has standard size rooms and suites which include a sitting room. The hotel is older and a bit dated but overall, a great place to stay.
The hotel itself is located in the center of the Meredith directly across the street from Lake Winnipesaukee.
There are a handful of restaurants and shops within walking distance making this a very convenient spot for lodging.
The Inn has smaller rooms and they have a wing called, “The Chase House” which has larger adjoining rooms with living rooms for groups traveling together.
We have stayed at the Chase House several times when traveling with my parents and kids.
Church Landing Meredith NH
If you are looking for something a bit more upscale than the Inn at Mill Falls, Church Landing is gorgeous, updated and directly on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Church Landing is part of the Mill Falls Resort (owned by the same company) and across the street from Mill Falls.
I have stayed at Church Landing a couple times and the studio suites are beautifully decorated and like Mill Falls, centrally located to all the restaurants, shops and activities.
Church Landing has a pool, spa, direct beach access and located near the activities center which features boating rentals, paddleboarding, kayak rentals and more.
The last time I visited Church Landing, this was the view from our studio.
This particular trip, my parents also joined us and my mom loved sitting by the water reading her book.
The indoor/outdoor pool connected by a cave, was my sons favorite spot. The pool is small but was perfect for what we needed.
EKAL Activities Center
The private beach areas at Church Landing are perfect to enjoy swimming and searching for tiny fish. The water was so clear and the sand was so soft. Perfect spot for adults to relax while the kids play in the water.
Just around the corner from this beach area is the Town Docks Restaurant and the EKAL Activity center where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks and canoes.
EKAL also offers daily boat rides on Lake Winnipesaukee as well as private charters on a 1931 Antique Chris Craft, the Miss Meredith.
View from the Lake of Church Landing
Mill Falls is an Inn/resort located directly on Lake Winnipesaukee. The Inn is spread out over 7 different facilities all within walking distance from each other. The resort area has 5 of their own restaurants ranging from lakeside dining to a casual pizzeria.
There is even a movie cinema within walking distance where we went during a rainy day and watched the Smurfs. What a cute movie!
Meredith NH Restaurants
1. Meredith NH Town Docks
Town Docks is one of the casual outdoor dining restaurants in downtown Meredith and is within walking distance to Mill Falls and Church Landing. This is a great place to have lunch, drinks on the water or even a casual dinner.
The Town Docks is fairly large with outdoor seating surrounded by beach sand making this a great spot for a burger, hot dog, seafood or homemade ice cream.
They even have their own boat dock so you can park your boat and dine.
2. Lake House Grill
The Lake House Grill located at Church Landing is another restaurant that is part of Mill Falls. It is casual but a bit more elegant compared to the Camp or Giuseppe’s Pizzeria restaurant located in the Mill Falls Marketplace.
3. The Camp at Mill Falls
The camp is located inside the Mill Falls Inn and offers a variety of tap beers, burgers and appetizers. The overall atmosphere is very casual and perfect for dinner. I highly recommend a reservation.
We ate most of our lunches at the Camp, Town Docks and Pizzeria followed with dinner at the Lago and LakeSide Grill. It was so nice to be able to walk everywhere and not have to drive.
4. Waterfall Cafe at Mill Falls
We at breakfast most mornings at The Waterfall cafe located in the Inn portion of Mill Falls. They offer home cooked breakfast and while the restaurant is small, they are quick moving guests in and out.
Sunshine & Pa’s and Georges Diner are two other local breakfast restaurants within walking distance.
5. Giuseppe’s Pizzeria & Ristorante
Located in the Mill Falls Marketplace, Giuseppe’s has amazing Italian cuisine and the pizza is delicious! They often have live music at night and you can reserve a table online (which I highly recommend especially if you are traveling during the peak Summer months)
Shopping at Mill Falls Marketplace
The winding brick walkways lined with flowers lead you to a variety of indoor and outdoor unique boutiques, T-shirts, sweatshirts, souvenir momentos, bakeries, ice cream shops and more.
There is a cool bridge and cascading waterfall which is a great spot for pictures.
Here is a shopping map from the Mill Falls website.
Boat Rentals On Lake Winnipesaukee
The picture above is the dock at The Town Docks Restaurant which you can park your boat at and dine. It’s first come first serve and the spots are limited but the dock is a nice feature nonetheless!
You can rent a pontoon boat which comes with a captain to take 2 – 6 hour cruises around the lake. I highly recommend renting a pontoon and having a tour guide take you to see all the landmarks and islands that are part of Lake Winnipesaukee.
You can either rent the pontoon at the EKAL or there are several marina’s in the area that rent boats and jet skis.
Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in the state of New Hampshire with a maximum depth of 180 feet. The lake is 21 miles long and anywhere from 1 to 9 miles wide depending on what town you are located in.
The lake is huge and if you are not familiar with it, you can easily get lost. The waters can be “sea” like so having a tour guide / captain who is familiar with boating is a must if you are not a “boater.”
Tooling around the lake and seeing the other islands was a lot of fun. I never realized how big Lake Winnipesaukee is. It’s like the ocean!
Spending a day or long weekend in Meredith NH is definitely a great trip. The entire area is pretty pricey so a day trip or a long weekend is more our speed. The town itself is very small and you can hit most of the shops, restaurants and activities in a day or two. Love these pics! It sure has changed since I was there last. I don’t remember anything there except the sea plane and dock. We had so much fun. I want to go back to New England so bad.
Thanks Kathleen!
What a beautiful vacation destination! It surely looks like a memorable time away, relaxing! I can see why your mom loved that chair! What a view 😉 Thanks for sharing your family getaway with us!
Thanks for sharing! I love the idea of doing a nice family trip instead of gifts, though I’m not sure how it would fly in my family! Never been up to Lake Winnipesaukee, but it looks gorgeous. Looks like you had amazing weather for your vacation!
Oh my goodness, what a wonderful vacation, and thank you for sharing your pics! I made a trip to New Hampshire this summer, and Meredith was on my list of places to go because we used to go there when I was a kid. I didn’t get that far though.
Spent an afternoon at Newfound Lake in Bristol and had a wonderful time. It was just as I remembered. I came away determined to go back and spend a week there with my kids. Nothing like NH lakes and mountains. Love them. (I grew up in Lebanon.)

I agree Joyce, it is super relaxing and very peaceful 🙂
It looks like such a beautiful place!! I love that your parents do a family trip instead of gifts. Family trips are always so much fun and much more memorable than most gifts!
I agree Kristen 🙂 I love the trips!
Loved this post. My mom grew up in this area and I spent all my summers from age 12 – 18 working at a restaurant my grandparents owned in Meredith. I haven’t been to NH in years. A lot of what I knew is gone but it was still cool seeing the pics.
Thank you Ellen 🙂 It is truly a beautiful place.
