I hope everyone had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend. Our weekend was full of yard work (when it wasn’t raining), a trip to PBTeen with my step-daughters (they want a room makeover) and a cookout yesterday afternoon. My mom and I spent most of Memorial Day cleaning up around the pool and patio and moving around outdoor furniture. We try to create as many outdoor spaces as possible so everyone has their own spot. The pool will be opened next weekend but my mom and I got the entire area cleaned out and the outdoor furniture set up. The pool house below is under major renovation at the moment. Hoping to share that with you soon!

My parents spent most of the weekend in the Lake Winnipesaukee area of NH where they are looking to buy a cottage on the lake. There are so many lakes in the Lakes Region of NH that it’s a bit overwhelming. They did find one little ranch home that needs a lot of work but the lot is really pretty. I’m not sure if you know this but I have my real estate license and in my opinion, buying a “fixer-upper” is the way to go.  I am seeing a road trip in my near future.

This is Meridith, NH below which is my mom’s favorite spot on Lake Winnipesaukee.

My dad is actually very excited about this particular home and is seemingly motivated to renovate. It’s about 15 minutes from Lake Winnipesaukee and the lake is smaller and peaceful.  I think I see our 2014 Memorial Day on a lake somewhere.

    Hi Jessica,

I’m originally from WI, but I was privileged to live in Merrimack, NH for 16 years. We pretty much raised our family there as our girls were 1 and 3 years of age when we moved there. It was like living in a picture postcard every day.

We moved from NH to Michigan last summer because of my husband’s work. We will always grieve having to leave one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Your pictures on your blog today made me homesick. God’s blessings on your families search that perfect vacation home.

  2. Lake Winnipesaukee is one of our favorite spots. We are so sad because my brother in law is selling his house (in Meredith!) next week and moving off-lake. We like to pretend that his house is our summer house – huge bummer! I love that area…..how exciting that there is a cottage up there in your future!!!

  3. I love reading your blog. My husband and I are almost empty nesters (one son still lives at home) and have had the experience of 3 generations under one roof two separate times with out daughter, her husband and their 3 kids. It’s not easy and I admire how your family has worked out having separate spaces! Keep writing about it as this type of generational family is becoming more and more typical.
