Lunch date with my grandmother + happy birthday to my mom

My grandmother took me last week to the Olive Garden to celebrate my birthday. She cracks me up because my grandfather refuses (lately) to go to a restaurant. Let me explain. A restaurant to my grandmother is an establishment such as the Olive Garden. My grandfather loves the local restaurants that are tiny and he knows everyone. Do you see where I am going with this? So my lunch date with my grandmother was to a “real” restaurant as she calls it.
If you follow me on facebook, you may have seen my status update where I shared my exciting experience about driving my grandfather’s car.
My grandmother can’t get into my car (it’s to high) so we always take my grandfather’s car when we go out together. It’s a sight to see me behind the wheel for sure. It reminds of when I was a kid and my grandmother (my mom’s mom) always had to sit on pillows to see over the wheel. That’s me!
Before we went inside, we took a picture of ourselves that I posted on instagram and I said, “hey gram, your first selfie!” She rolled her eyes at me. I had to explain what a selfie was. hehe
She is amazed that the camera is inside my phone. When you say camera to her, she thinks of the black and white polaroids. Don’t tell her I posted this picture of her with her mouth full of food. hehe. She said, “don’t you dare put that on your blog!” Don’t worry gram, I won’t. 🙂
A happy birthday also to my mom today! Love you lots momma! We will be celebrating this weekend during our Saturday night dinner.
My lunch date with my grandmother was filled with loads of laughs and delicious food. While we were disappointed that they were out of the pumpkin cheesecake, we managed to share a delicious piece of chocolate moose cake. It wasn’t easy but we ate it :).

How blessed you are to still have both your mon and your grandmom to celebrate with! Happy Birthday (belated) to you and you mom. Thanks for sharing your family with the rest of us.
Thanks so much Norma Jean 🙂 Very sweet!
Jessica, you didn’t say it was your birthday — Happy Birthday! And to Mom too!
I found this post interesting because after your lunch with Grandma post I was wondering whether you went to a local fare restaurant or a chain. I’m with grandma liking a bigger place but love local fare. Sounds like I’m on both sides of the fence! Love the pics — thanks for sharing!
Ha thank you 🙂 We went to the Olive Garden which my gram loves! My gramp no so much . haha
