Have you guys seen the Wifi Thermostat that “listens, learns and saves?” The Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control is super cool! You can actually tell it how hot or cold you want the temperature to be. Keep reading, because they are also giving away one of these thermostats to one of you!
I told my grandmother that we would set this up in her living room and use her voice to activate the settings, that way my grandfather won’t be able to change the degrees on her. hehe. She thought that was a great idea! Needless to say, I was pleased when Honeywell asked if we would like to review their latest technology and give the thermostat a try.
It came packed very nicely and one of the features I like best, is it comes with an AC power adapter. You don’t have to hardwire in the system if you don’t want to. Just be aware, if you don’t hardwire, you obviously don’t have control over your cooling or heating system. All of the other features (customizable touch screen, colors ect.) work though with the AC adapter.
For now, we decided to install with the AC adapter. The installation process is super easy and only requires two ends to be input to the back of the unit. You will see above, there is a long wire coming from the AC adapter, you simply put the two striped ends into the RC and C spot on the back side.
There will be a clear plastic tape across the back of the RC and C adapters, simply remove and insert one wire to the RC and the other to the C spot as shown below. You will need to press gently on each adapters plastic end to open the hole inside and keep the wire in place.
Snap the cover back on and you are done!
Impressive features and benefits are: Voice control, Control from anywhere, Simple setup, Easy-to-read customizable color touchscreen and The Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control was named Best New Product of 2013. Pretty nice right? I plugged it in behind a bookcase and taped the wire along side of the back so it would be out of site. You can finagle the wiring however you want if you choose to use the AC adapter plugin. Remember, you have the option to also hardwire and connect this cute little guy to your heating and/or cooling system
I love that it shows the humidity as well as the date and time. Technology is just amazing. The fact that you can run this from your phone based on an app simply blew my grandfather and dad’s minds 🙂 hehe. I showed them the app on my iphone and how it works wirelessly and I don’t think my grandfather will ever grasp that concept. I mean, they didn’t even have electricity in his house until he was 8 years old! ha

I’m a technophile, so this is right up my alley! I just completed an insulation project at my little 1915 cottage. I had NO insulation whatsoever, and living near Buffalo, NY … well, you can see the problem. It would be ridiculously cold in this house — to the point where you could actually feel a breeze. Not a draft. An honest-to-goodness BREEZE. Now, it’s nice and toasty in here — blown cellulose insulation in the walls and a full 18″ of it in the attic and attic crawl space. Even the basement was air-sealed and the rim joists insulated! Summertime will bring a houseful of new windows and hopefully also a new furnace by fall. This thermostat would be a perfect addition to my little soon-to-be-energy-efficient cottage! 🙂 Thank you for doing this giveaway!
