I have some exciting news to share! I was invited to be a contributor to the HomeGoods Design Happy blog a couple weeks ago. Not only did they invite me to be a contributor but they also asked me to attend their blogger event last week, here in Massachusetts. I won’t lie, I have a few HomeGoods locations within a 20 minute radius of our home, I am very lucky! Needless to say, I frequent them all on a weekly basis :). Can you blame me?

Our two day event started at the TJX headquarters in Massachusetts where we all gathered for an entire day of fun. It happened to be a mini blizzard that day, but I still snapped a picture of the TJX sign at the entrance.

We had a packed full day of fun and a fabulous visit from Wendy Schofield, the Art Director at Lonny Magazine who shared photography tips and a magazine prospective on design elements.

We toured the warehouse where all of the behind the scenes buying, staging and product choices become a reality at HomeGoods. It was insane to see all of the trends for 2015 relating to incoming product and design choices.

On the second day, we had a blogger design challenge where we each had a “space” that we had to decorate on our own and from scratch. Here was my space below.

HomeGoods had arranged to have merchandise already brought in so we all had items to choose from, however, we all wanted a few of the same things so it was a race to see who got them first :). It was a super fun day and all of the space came out beautifully! I will be sharing more on this design challenge and my sitting area vignette soon on the Design Happy Blog but for now, here are a few pictures of my finished space along with me working photographed by Gary Sloan.

Here are a few of the HomeGoods items packed in the warehouse special for us! I was a bit nervous at first as we were each 100% on our own for this challenge but once they said, “go”, it was amazing how each one of us dispersed and feverishly tried to choose our items.

I will admit, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with this blank wall and fireplace. I think everything came together though in the end.

Trying to figure out the inside of the hearth. I think I changed my mind a few times :).

A cozy chic theme where sitting and reading or having a glass of wine with friends was my overall goal.

I’ll be sharing my ideas and thoughts on how I mixed pattern and texture in a couple weeks. My motto, go with what you love! I’ll share a little secret, I loved this finished space so much that I found those chairs, pillows and rug later that weekend at my local HomeGoods and they now live in my house! The beauty of HomeGoods being in my backyard. It’s a wonderful thing ;).

I have a HomeSense store near me here in Canada, which is an extension of Winners. Lots of great decorating items there too! Not sure where the closest HomeGoods store would be…I’ll have to have a look!
