Meet Shelby.

Shelby is our 3 year old boxer who rocks our world! She is the sweetest, most lovable & loyal friend a family could ever have! She has very short hair & is always cold! I have purchased so many sweaters, jackets, you name it but she’s either allergic or they just never fit right! So, I bought some Christmas themed fleece & used her cozy jacket (that looks like a horse blanket) as a template for a sweater wrap! I cut the fabric similar to the template jacket.

I folded the collar 2x and stitched it together so make a thick fun looking collar

I then flipped it over & pinned the collar & pinned the bottom 2 inches in from the tail . I left the middle “unstitched” because she is so high chested that anything stitched is to tight when she sits & if it’s any bigger (and stitched) she climbs out of it!!!

You can see the hole for the neck here where I pinned the collar. I tried this on her unpinned and marked with a marker where to pin. I stitched from the inside and then flipped it out so you couldn’t see the seam.

I then slipped it on (I slip on from the tail side first b/c that end is smaller and won’t go over her chest) made some adjustments and that’s it!

By leaving the belly open and just stitching the collar and a couple inches underneath (tail area, you can’t see it stitched) she has plenty of room to move!

My husband walked in as I was making this & taking her pictures …..lets just say he thinks I have lost my mind. He’s probably right ! Smile

Oh my gosh Jessica, she is adorable! I think we've talked about this before, but I have a 3 year old boxer as well. Her name is Lucy. She hates the winter. I may have to try this for her!

  3. I must start off by saying you have the cutest dog ever. It is hard to find clothing for large dogs. We have a lab and bull mastiff. Not even the extra extra large will fit our bully. Thank you for the tutorial. I love your blog. I'm your newest follower. Would love you to stop by DIY Home Sweet Home
