Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tour

I won’t lie, it was a little insane trying to prepare for this Christmas Home Tour prior to Thanksgiving but I must say, I am so relieved that the house is completely decorated and ready for Christmas nice and early. More time now to Christmas shop! For those of you who don’t know us, we are four generations all living together under one roof.

Our Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tour 2013

The home tour started yesterday so in case you missed any of the homes, you can head back to Jennifer Rizzo’s site to start the tour from the beginning. We are stop 9 on the tour out of 30+ homes so be sure to see all of them!

Lets get started with the tour shall we! If you were really here right now, you would enter our home through our side entry way. I told my grandfather you would be visiting today virtually and he rolled his eyes at me. Come on in!

Family Room

Next stop is our family room. Oh this tree is one of my absolute favorites ever since being alive! ha. It’s a pre-lit flocked tree from Wayfair which is simply the most gorgeous tree on the planet. Here is a slew of flocked trees as well that are at all different price points.

I chose a wintery luxe rustic theme this year for our family room keeping with a warm neutral tone. The stool, faux rug and pillows are from HomeGoods.

Our family room is one of the main hubs in our home so it’s important to us that it’s warm cozy and comfortable. I love how our DIY burlap curtains tie right in with the woodland theme.

I added a shelf last week behind the couch in order to create a Christmas vignette. This is such an easy project and it added a bit of character behind the couch.

Our Dining Room

Our theme this year is gold and blue in our dining room. Mixing in ornaments and wrapping gift boxes are easy inexpensive ways to create a display on shelves. My goal was to keep things simple and clean looking. The table candles, lanterns, ornaments and garland on the hutch are also from Home Goods.

The tree in our dining room is a real white pine which was a beast to get into the house. It is so full and soft.

Blue + White Bathroom

I know some of you are giggling that we decorated our bathroom but it’s so easy and a great way to carry the Christmas cheer throughout your home. I used decorative ribbon to accent wall art and vases as well as holiday hand towels. Again, ornaments are an easy and inexpensive way to add holiday cheer.

A simple white hydrangea and greens with a red ribbon around the vase add a subtle pop of Christmas.

The Study

We recently just finished this study by overhauling the fireplace and creating a stylish study that would be kid and adult friendly.

Living with four generations under one roof means that space is limited so we utilize every square inch of the house and most of the rooms are multipurpose rooms. The rug from Dash & Albert is an indoor/outdoor rug that is perfect for this space.

This room is such a dramatic change from the existing space that sometimes I can hardly believe it is the same room. The stockings are from Ballard Designs.

I am working on getting my parents and grandparents Christmas pj’s for a multigenerational Christmas photo but they are not very excited about the idea. 15. That white and gold Christmas tree, with all the little owls, had me at HELLO! Oh, my word! It’s stinking adorable. I kept thinking to myself, “I should invite this girl over to MY house, so that she could have coffee with me and do a sparkly owl tree for US.” And then I remembered, “Oh, yes. We have a free-range toddler living here, and he will dismantle that tree in less time than it takes NASA to launch a rocket, and those owls will be all over my house, with broken wings and broken beaks, and we can’t have that.” So… as much as I want you to recreate that tree in my house this Christmas season, we might have to wait until NEXT December, when the toddler is a big boy of two-and-a-half. But, I want to stand up and clap for your home decor, because WELL PLAYED!

  16. Jessica, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home and family with us.
Your creativity, generosity and love SHINE through and examplify the real
meaning of this season. There are so many beautiful examples of your gift of design, it is diffiult to note anything in partiular. However, I will say I would love to duplicate the room and that beautiful white snowy tree in it.thank you so much. I plan to visit your site soon.

  17. So far, your house tour is my fave! I love how clean and modern your rooms are. I almost bought the same pjs for our family. How do you like them? Comfy? I’m going to try and make the tree topper from scrapbook paper for my tree. I have been stumped for a topper thus far. Thank you for all of the inspiration. Props on photography as well.

  18. I love the tour! Gorgeous!

I searched your blog to find the color you painted the entryway chest – have you shared that information? I love how it looks and am in a process of picking a color for a bath vanity. Would you mind writing the name/manufacturer? Or is it custom, or worse – secret. :/

  19. Love the dinning room! What paint treatment is on the dinning room chairs? In the pic they almost have a pewter look about them?

  20. Love the dinning room! What paint treatment is on the dinning room chairs? In the pic they almost have a pewter look about them.

  21. You have a beautiful home and the decorating is so fun. How long have you had your flocked tree? I love them but have wondered how well they take to being dis-assembled and re-assembled year after year.

  22. I’m jealous of your home, your kids and your extended family. Bless your heart. You have excellent taste, and a beautiful family. Your truly blessed. Try on your hardest day most of us are nowhere as fortunate as even you. Don’t realize. Bless your hearts for sever life times.

  23. I love the owls and ‘icy’ bathroom!
But to be completely honest, your whole house rocks 😀
Your family photos are darling 🙂
