Now that I officially have a space at our house to call “my office”, I am planning to do a cute office makeover in my grandfather’s old bedroom. Yep, he’s not that impressed with me but he’ll have to get over it. -ha. Read this post if you have no clue what I am talking about! I have been gathering ideas on my office / workroom pinterest board and today, I am sharing a few of my affordable office furniture ideas. There are SO many office configurations, designs, ideas and organization solutions out there that it actually became a little overwhelming. How does one decide what to do in a space that is suppose to be comfortable yet be inspiring and a spot to be creative and motivated? I won’t lie, I haven’t been super motivated lately. Winter does that to me. Here’s to hoping Mother Nature turns on the switch and sends warm Spring weather to Massachusetts!
I have always wanted a saw horse desk. This weathered oak finished top with antique bronze hardware desk is absolutely gorgeous and would go perfectly in a small office space. It’s on sale too for $231! Boston Loft Furnishings via ATG Stores have super affordable and small space furnishings.
This desk is only $145 and it has storage! It’s modern design and bamboo legs are gorgeous.
I think this desk is my favorite so far. I love the rustic planks and metal iron legs. Perfect for a modern farmhouse styled office.

I am up in the air about what kind of filing cabinets to go with. I personally love this look below from CB2 with the metal desks and cabinets but not sure if I would want it long term. I love the fact that these pieces are affordable and you can buy them as you have the money because everything is sold separately, not as a set.
Last year when I did the police station break room makeover, I got them a few of these chairs below from Wayfair in black and I LOVE them!
Executive Modern White Swivel Chair
Have you ever considered a dining chair as a desk chair? I love the idea of having a gorgeous fabric dining chair like this as my desk chair. It would look great with a beautiful farmhouse planked desk. Don’t you think? This chair isn’t exactly affordable but I do love it.
Filing cabinets are a necessity. You should see my current little office space. There are papers all over the floor. These cabinets at Wayfair are all under $250 and range from wood to metal.

I love metal cabinets! They come in many different colors and these are under $150! One tip when buying a metal filing cabinet (I learned this the hard way), make sure the metal is sturdy and won’t tip over when full! Cheap filing cabinets are great but just make sure the quality is great!-ha. I have a couple of these and they are awesome!

One of my favorite inspiration pictures is from HGVT and it’s Genevieve Gordor’s office space featuring an amazing dining room table.
I have thought about making this kind of a desk for my office but not sure when I will find the time! -ha. I bet if I looked hard enough, I could find an affordable dining table that resembled this look. Pop in a fun rug and a few bookcases and you too can have this look! Isn’t it beautiful? This post has some affiliate links for your shopping pleasure (in case you see something you like). Hopefully you found some affordable office furniture ideas today and if you are planning an office project, send me pictures! Meet Jessica
What started as a hobby, Jessica’s blog now has millions of people visit yearly and while many of the projects and posts look and sound perfect, life hasn’t always been easy. Read Jessica’s story and how overcoming death, divorce and dementia was one of her biggest life lessons to date.
WOW Jessica! What a feast for the eyes and mind. I LOVE all of your examples especially the green file cabinets. I have two file drawers for the legs of my desk and a solid wood door for the top that we painted gloss black to match the legs. It looks okay: however, I am getting a little tired of it, I’ve had it for about twelve years. Genevieve Gorder’s office took my breath away. The living edge table is out of this world beautiful! I’ve seen the Property Brothers do one for a woman that wanted a very long one. As usual I cannot wait to see what you do with this space. TFS.
I love reading your posts and your Grandpa is in my prayers. I love the white rolling table that is over the small filing cabinets. Where did you get it? It would be a perfect movable sewing table? Thanks for answering and know your family is in my prayers.
Oh Wow Jessica,
It wasn’t until you mentioned who was in the picture that I realized it was not you. I kept
Asking myself…why not her original desk…haha I love all of your ideas
