Today I am sharing how to make tissue paper flowers. A couple weeks ago, I shared a cute video that I created with my son making flowers with me and today, is the text version along with a step by step guide. Making tissue paper flowers is so easy. It’s the perfect craft on a rainy day for kids and adults. My son actually enjoyed this craft and they look adorable in our foyer.
Scissors and Pinking Sheers
First start by folding your tissue paper back and forth alternating directions.
Once you have completed folding the tissue paper, tie the pipe cleaner around the middle of the tissue paper bunching the middle together. This creates the stem of the flower.
Cut a rounded edge on each side.
Then gently begin pulling the tissue paper pieces apart towards towards the middle, forming the flower. Be VERY careful, I ripped a few of mine because I went to fast. You can always cut off the rip part.
Watch this step by step video on how to make tissue paper flowers.
Once completed, you will have a pretty looking flower.
Use the pinking shears to trim the edges and create a textured look. I incorporated these cute tissue paper flowers in our foyer and created a pretty vignette full of pretty decor from HomeGoods.

A few weeks ago I made a video in partnership with Sylvan Learning Center and shared it on our facebook page and Youtube channel. It’s always so funny and kind of awkward to watch myself on video. Feels so dorky! This video shows me talking about the project and my son making his flower as he learns the life stages of a flower. Yep, we had a science lesson and used tissue paper flowers as our model ;).-ha.
Check the video out below.
Learning how to make tissue paper flowers is so easy. We did this project on a rainy afternoon and it was so much fun. My son decided to place them in a vase and give to my mom :).
