It was kind of fun decorating our new kitchen this past weekend. We are not quite finished with the renovation, we still have the mudroom wall to complete, but we are well on our way. Sometimes I sit in this kitchen and just reflect back to when I was a kid and try to envision the wall still there along with the old dark cabinets. It’s such an amazing difference. It’s hard to believe we are in the same house sometimes. We kept the Christmas kitchen decor to a minimum in an effort to create a casual elegant space, plus my shoulder is still really sore from surgery so minimal is the theme this year ;). I am so thankful to Masterbrand for partnering on our new kitchen. You can read all about our new kitchen and see the full reveal here.
The new barn doors from Masonite are gorgeous featuring hanging boxwood wreaths hung with red velvet ribbon. We decided that a simple striped hand towels from HomeGoods and red accents would coordinate perfectly.
A dish filled with red bulbs from HomeGoods serves as an easy and simple centerpiece.
I love hanging wreaths inside on the windows.
You can see a tiny piece of the mudroom wall on the right peeking in. It’s not fully complete yet so once the holidays are over, we will finish up that project. I used red velvet ribbon from HomeGoods to hang the wreaths. By tapping a small finish nail (to the ribbon) to the door, I was able to hang the wreaths.
Isn’t the boxwood tree adorable on the island? I found that at our local tree farm and scoffed it right up.
I played around with a couple different centerpieces on the island, I think I like the dish full of red bulbs the best.
There you have it, our Christmas kitchen for 2015. This is the first year since I started blogging a little over 4 year ago that I didn’t join a Christmas home tour with a group of bloggers. Feels a little strange flying solo this year – ha. My shoulder surgery a few weeks ago has limited me so I opted out this year from all the blogger Christmas festivities. We certainly will not be decorating 7 trees and taking thousands of pictures but we will be sharing more of our decorated home over the next couple weeks.
