Happy 4th of July! We are at the camp this week enjoying a little R & R but have been back and forth to the house too. That’s the beauty of being 5 minutes from home, we are close enough to get home but when at camp, we feel like we are a world away from it all. I thought you would all be glad to know, I sprung my gramps from the Nursing Home yesterday for a brief visit with my gram at home.
This wasn’t planned, in fact, it was totally last minute. My son and I were headed to visit him at the nursing home and I planned on taking him out for coffee providing his mood was ok. My grandmother was stuck at home in bed with bad cramps in her leg so she wasn’t planning on visiting my grandfather.

I had a crazy thought about bringing him home to see her so I called my dad and ran it by him and he said, “oh no, you’ll have the cops there taking him back in hand cuffs, he won’t go back, he’ll be a lunatic.” -ha. My dad is very dramatic sometimes…..
I laughed and said, “ok, I’ll think some more on it.” My grandfather has a tendency to want to be in control and in charge of everything and definitely has the ability to be stubborn.
I snapped this picture in the car after I told him we were headed home to see gram providing he cooperated and agreed to go back after the visit. He cried and said, “well I would be a stupid AS& if I didn’t cooperate and go back.” -haha.
I giggled and said “ummm yeah, you would be but that’s never stopped you before.” -ha
We ended up getting donuts and coffee at the Dunkin Donuts Drive thru and he was so excited to surprise my gram. They had a great visit for about an hour and half and then I brought him back. Fingers crossed he continues to cooperate so we can bring him home for short visits. I ended up telling him that he needs to sleep at the nursing home because of his special brain medicine so the Dr.’s can monitor him and he seemed to accept that.
