Our diy bathroom {creative storage solutions} + AOL real estate feature

I am almost finished with our diy bathroom for my husband.  I finished tiling around the fiberglass shower insert yesterday and I am hoping to have the grout finished today. Before I move on though about our bathroom, I just wanted to say thank you to the AOL Huffington Post real estate feature on our family this past weekend. A Huffington Post editor reached out to me last week asking if we would be interested in being their weekend feature about multi generational families all living under one roof. Of course, I said yes. Thank you Krisanne for a fabulous feature. We all enjoyed reading it!

Ok, back to our diy bathroom! There is not a lot of storage in this bathroom so I have been scouring the internet looking for aesthetically pleasing diy bath storage solutions. My budget for the bathroom was not huge and I spent most of it on the mosaic tiles.

I found various bathroom storage solutions from built ins to stand alone shelving. I love this tall shelving unit finished in stainless steel with glass shelves. I am thinking I could make something along these lines out of pine or plumbers pipe and glass inserts.

I have to do something above the toilet area in our bathroom and I love  how the floating shelves coordinates with the stainless steel hardware.

I also love how Beth added  floating shelves in her recent bath makeover. I unfortunately don’t have two walls on either side where I can do a built in look like this but I love the idea of floating shelves.

I love how Melissa added the magazine racks to the side. Her shelving is fantastic!

This next idea from Lowes Creative ideas is perfect! I just don’t know if I have the time to make it at the moment.

Adding a shelf above the sink is also another option.

This next clever option is a contender. I love the wicker baskets hanging on either a towel rod or plumbers pipe.

This next option is not only smart, a simple pine shelf, but stylish and fairly inexpensive. I love the big black chunky hooks.

If you follow me on facebook and instagram, I posted some pictures yesterday of the bathroom wall treatments I was in the middle of hanging and me boo hoo “ing” about the mess I was in. I am happy to say that after constructing almost 30 squares on the wall and filling and sanding hundreds of nail holes, that nightmare is over! These next couple of days are my favorite part of room makeovers, accessorizing and adding some stylish inexpensive diy bath storage solutions. Wish me luck!
